After reading some ridiculous nonsense about recharging regular batteries here, and then here, I ordered the Battery Xtender from BatteryRecharger.com.
From the site
Amazingly, it recharges ordinary “Off the Shelf” batteries like Duracell ®, Energizer ®, Rayovac ®, and Sony ® AAA, AA, C and D sizes of alkaline, zinc-carbon, and even rechargeable Ni-Cad and NiMH types!
Does it work? So far I’ve run through my cardboard box of old dead AA and AAA batteries, attempting to recharge them. Of about thirty, five have failed to charge (condition red), two are still lingering in the limbo of condition orange. The rest were restored to their pristine green in varying amounts of time. But that doesn’t prove anything, I suppose, other than the device is capable of illuminating variously colored lights.
Are the batteries now undead? Why, yes, they appear to be working just fine.
At first blush, I’d say the Battery Xtender seems to be worth the $40 I spent on it. However, I’ll continue to recharge and do some more formal testing and report back.
Does it work after extended use?
