Its features and price put it far ahead of other digital recorders and old tape-based recorders. It supports voice activation and storage of up to 300 recordings across up to three folders. Recordings can be uploaded with Digital Wave Player software via a USB cable (both included). Depending on the quality settings, it can record up to 16 hours of conversation and play back at either slow or fast speeds. Two AAA batteries will power it for 25 hours.

It is lightweight and its controls are well placed and easy to use. A function lock button on the side protects against accidental recordings. A remarkable advance over tape systems, it’s at a great price-performance point for portable digital recorder systems.

Currently around $53 at buy.com or $53 at amazon with free shipping.

MP3 players have been around for years, from 1998′s Diamond Rio PMP300 to the various iPods and their ilk today. However, one of the snazziest players around is the tiny Mobiblu, now available in 2GB models. It comes in various colors; the 2GB model is available in black, silver, blue, and pink (the 512MB model also comes in orange), is less than one cubic inch (.94in x .94in x .94in) and weighs .63 oz.
Aside from being one of the smallest players around, the mobiBlu sports some great features. Besides playing MP3 audio files, it recognizes WMA and WMA+DRM files, and displays files as they are organized in folders and reads id3 tags. The integrated display is OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode). It also acts as a USB 2.0 flash drive and music can be copied to and from the device with drag and drop operations. The mobiBlu also has a built-in clock, FM radio, voice and FM radio recording, and has a rechargable battery that’s good for 10-hours of playback time .

There is a single headphone connection that doubles as the USB plug. “Necklace” style headphones are included that allow the mobiBlu to hang at about sternum level.

It’s available from mobiBlu, Target, Amazon, and Wal-Mart. The 2GB model retalis for $159.99, though Wal-Mart has it for $154.75 online.

Highly recommended.
